Does Microsoft Azure have an official MCP server or Claude connector?

Official

As of October 2026, Microsoft publishes an official Azure MCP Server, documented on Microsoft Learn and built in the open microsoft/mcp repo. It runs locally with Entra ID and Azure RBAC, can change live resources, and has an optional read-only flag. A remote Azure Resource Manager server also exists. No Claude connector was found.

Does Azure have an official MCP server?

Yes. Microsoft documents the Azure MCP Server on Learn and develops it in github.com/microsoft/mcp.

How does it authenticate?

Through Microsoft Entra ID with Azure Identity; what it can do depends on your Azure RBAC roles.

Can I make it read-only?

Yes, with the --read-only flag, which is off by default.

Is this the same as Azure DevOps MCP?

No. Azure DevOps has its own server and profile; this one covers Azure cloud resources.

Is Azure a Claude connector?

Not found; claude.com/connectors/azure returned 404. A Claude Code plugin exists but is not a connector.
