Zapier MCP server & Claude connector

Does Zapier have an official MCP server or Claude connector?

Official

As of October 2026, Zapier runs its own hosted MCP server, documented on docs.zapier.com and listed in Anthropic's connector directory as Anthropic verified. It signs in with OAuth and works through Streamable HTTP. It also acts as a bridge: each tool is an action in one of 9,000+ connected apps, and each call uses two tasks.

Evidence

What an AI can do in Zapier

Read

  • Dynamic tool discovery: the AI finds and enables tools mid-conversation

Create

  • Send messages, create tasks and update records via app actions

Run

  • Run an action in a connected app (40,000+ actions across 9,000+ apps)

From the publisher’s documentation for the version we checked. Not every tool is listed.

Setup

Claude (claude.ai / Desktop)

Add the Zapier connector from Claude's directory and sign in with OAuth; Zapier creates the server during sign-in. Org admins may need to approve it first.

Source

Claude Code

If your Claude organization already has the connector, do not run claude mcp add. Programmatic install instructions are in the zapier/zapier-mcp repo.

Cursor

Use the Cursor install badge or the cursor/mcp-servers listing referenced in the Zapier repo README; no JSON snippet is given there.

Add the hosted URL as an HTTP server (type http).

Safety check

  • Pass

    Publisher verified

Docs on docs.zapier.com; the zapier/zapier-mcp repo describes itself as the official plugin distribution for the hosted server; the Claude directory lists 'Made by Zapier' and Anthropic verified.

  • Pass

    Auth model

Most clients sign in with OAuth from inside the client. Code-based setups use a connection token, which Zapier's docs say should never be distributed.

  • Flag

    Write and delete access

Tools are real actions in connected apps (send, create, update), so write access depends on which tools and app connections you enable. No read-only mode was found in the docs read; docs mention workspace access controls and audit history.

  • Unknown

    Tool-description injection scan

Hosted and closed source; tool descriptions are generated per connected app and were not reviewed. The docs home page carries an 'Agent routing guidance' block addressed to AI assistants (documentation navigation only), which was not followed.

  • Pass

    Repo maintenance

zapier/zapier-mcp (plugin distribution, not the closed-source server): pushed 2026-07-29, not archived, 443 stars.

FAQ

Does Zapier have an official MCP server?

Yes. Zapier hosts it and documents it at docs.zapier.com/mcp; the zapier/zapier-mcp repo calls itself the official plugin distribution for the hosted server.

Is Zapier a Claude connector?

Yes. It is listed in Anthropic's connector directory as Anthropic verified.

Is it free?

Docs say each successful tool call uses two tasks from your Zapier plan; failed calls do not count. Sharing a server needs a Team or Enterprise plan.

Is Zapier MCP the same as the apps it connects to?

No. This page covers Zapier's own server. Through it, Claude can run actions in thousands of other apps, but those run via Zapier, not the apps' own MCP servers.

Can I make it read-only?

No read-only mode was found in the docs we read. You control access by choosing which tools and app connections the server exposes.
