WordPress MCP server & Claude connector
Does WordPress have an official MCP server or Claude connector?
Official
As of October 2026, WordPress has two official MCP routes from different publishers. Automattic's WordPress.com hosts a remote server (OAuth 2.1, paid plans) listed in Anthropic's directory. The WordPress.org core project publishes the self-hosted MCP Adapter, still pre-1.0. Automattic's older wordpress-mcp repo is archived.

FAQ
Does WordPress have an official MCP server?
Yes, from two publishers: Automattic's WordPress.com hosted server, and the WordPress.org core project's MCP Adapter for self-hosted sites.
What is the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here?
WordPress.com (Automattic) hosts a remote server at public-api.wordpress.com. WordPress.org's MCP Adapter is open-source software you install on your own site.
Is WordPress a Claude connector?
Yes. WordPress.com is listed in Anthropic's connector directory, marked Anthropic verified. The self-hosted adapter is not a directory connector.
Can I make it read-only?
On WordPress.com, yes: choose the Read only access level or toggle individual tools. On the adapter, abilities are opt-in per ability.
What about Automattic's wordpress-mcp repo?
It is archived and deprecated. Its README points to the MCP Adapter and the WordPress.com docs.
