Does SharePoint have an official Claude connector or MCP server?

As of October 2026, Microsoft publishes a Work IQ SharePoint MCP server, documented on Microsoft Learn and still in preview, using Microsoft Entra sign-in. Claude reaches SharePoint through a separate Anthropic-built Microsoft 365 connector, not a Microsoft server. A work or school Microsoft account is required, and Microsoft's SharePoint tool list is not published.

Does SharePoint have an official MCP server?

Yes, in preview. Microsoft Learn documents a Work IQ SharePoint MCP server (operation mcp_SharePointRemoteServer) published by Microsoft.

How does Claude connect to SharePoint?

Through the Microsoft 365 connector in Claude's directory, which is built by Anthropic and lists sharepoint_search and sharepoint_folder_search.

Do I need a work account?

Yes. The Claude directory page says personal outlook.com, hotmail.com and live.com accounts are not supported.

Can it edit or delete SharePoint files?

The Claude connector's SharePoint tools are search and read. Microsoft's Work IQ server includes create, update and delete tools in general, but its SharePoint tool list is not published.

Is it available in government clouds?

The Work IQ SharePoint connector page excludes US Government (GCC, GCC High), DoD and China clouds.
