Does Google Drive have an official MCP server or Claude connector?

As of October 2026, Google Drive has an official Claude connector: Anthropic's directory lists it as made by Google, pointing at Google's remote Drive MCP endpoint (drivemcp.googleapis.com). Google labels that server a Developer Preview and signs in with OAuth. Claude's directory lists share and trash tools that Google's own reference does not, so verify.

Go to Customize > Connectors in claude.ai, find Google Drive, select Connect and sign in to Google. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds Google Drive for the organization first.

Google's guide shows an mcp_config.json entry for Google Antigravity (it names Claude as another supported host but gives no Claude-specific steps). Replace OAUTH_CLIENT_ID and OAUTH_CLIENT_SECRET with your own client.

Is there an official Google Drive connector for Claude?

Yes. Anthropic's connector directory lists Google Drive as made by Google, using https://drivemcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1. Connect it under Customize > Connectors in claude.ai.

Does Google publish its own Drive MCP server?

Yes, as a Developer Preview at drivemcp.googleapis.com. Using it directly needs Developer Preview Program membership, a Google Cloud project and your own OAuth client.

Can Claude change or delete my Drive files?

Google documents create_file and copy_file; Anthropic's directory also lists update_file, share_file and trash_file. Claude can ask for approval before using a tool, but no read-only switch was verified.

Which file types can Claude read through Drive?

Claude's docs say Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs, Word/Excel/PowerPoint, OpenDocument files and PNG/JPEG images. Comments and suggested edits are not readable.
