It fetches current library documentation for coding agents. A free API key is recommended for rate limits. Caveat: the docs it returns are community-contributed, not vetted by Upstash.

Is Context7 free?

The README recommends a free API key for higher rate limits. Details of paid plans were not verified.

Does it work with Claude Code and Cursor?

Yes. context7.com documents Claude Code (remote and local commands), Cursor, VS Code and many other clients, and Claude Desktop via Add Custom Connector.

Is it safe?

It exposes only two read tools. Upstash's disclaimer says library docs are community-contributed and cannot be guaranteed accurate or secure, and your queries are sent to the Context7 API, so keep secrets out of them.

Is there a read-only mode?

It is read-only by design: the two tools only fetch documentation.
